Made from extracting coconut raw sap. The sap is then boiled until brown nectar-thick before being poured into a bamboo stick, where it solidifies.
"Gula Melaka" is the local Nanyang slang which simply means Malacca sugar.
What is the difference between Gula Melaka and brown sugar?
- Gula Melaka is made from coconut raw sap while brown sugar is made from sugar cane molasses.
- Pure Gula Melaka is not sweet but enhance food fragrance and taste while brown sugar is sweet as it is made of sugar cane.
